ABOUT ME
When I started my career journey, I was not sure what I wanted to do. In Chinese families the main focus is on achievement and comparing their children on how successful they are is par for the course. So not only were there my own wants and desires to achieve but also those of my parents to fulfil.
At school I wanted to be a doctor or a solicitor, I wanted to please my parents, they would be so proud of me in one of those dignified career choices, however this was not meant to be.
I started work life in my father's Chinese take away - serving, buying stock and completing the bookkeeping, which gave me a flavour of being an entrepreneur. I knew I was not a person to take risks, so being an entrepreneur was not for me. Another option as with so many of my cousins, I thought I would become an accountant. I was great with numbers, I bought a distance learning course I had all the books however, my heart was not in it.
My move into retail management for globally recognised brands gave me a commercial edge to what I do. During my role as store manager of Pizza Hut, one of my team was enrolling in the local business college to study personnel and development. This excited me and I decided to join her, eventually she dropped out and I carried on.
Mid term I had an amazing opportunity to go to work abroad in Poland and I thought this would be a great learning curve. It was, and I came back a different person I had grown so much. I completed the second year of my course and took on a variety of HR roles.

I found that working with people was the profession I wanted to be in. It combined being a solicitor and a doctor into one profession, fantastic! I was able to go to court and win complex cases, I was also able to understand and work out solutions with employees who were unwell and how we could get to an amicable workable solution. So, I had the best of both worlds, or had I?
Over the years I found that I was amazing at developing others to be the very best they could be. I found HR projects against hard deadlines resonated with me and I gained the most fulfilment from them both here and abroad.

"I realised that I could easily take the pressure off you, the CEO and that I could support you in what you want to achieve. We can talk around your end goal, you can provide me with your vision and insight and I can go away, conceptualise and plan out the journey you want and how I could support you and your team to execute the process of transformation"
